BIOGRAPHY KELLY RICHARDSON Born in Burlington, Ontario, Canada in 1972 Relocated to the UK in 2003 Kelly Richardson is a UK based Canadian artist whose work explores simultaneity, affect and the use of cinematic language to create part real/part imagined landscapes, offering visual metaphors for our modern 'reality'; a wavering hybrid of fact and fiction. She studied fine art at the Ontario College of Art & Design (AOCAD with honours) and media studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (MFA studies). Her works have been exhibited internationally at various venues including the Sundance Film Festival, Busan Biennale, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Le Mois de la Photo a Montreal, Gwangju Biennale, and Centre Georges Pompidou. Her work was recently acquired by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (USA), Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (Canada), Art Gallery of Ontario (Canada) and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (USA). Current and near future exhibitions include Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, Quebec (May 6-June 20), 126/Film Fleadh, Galway, Ireland (July), Confederation Centre of the Arts, PEI (June 6-September 26) and the first Beijing 798 Biennale, Beijing, China (August 10 - September 26). |
