In keeping with Kelly Richardson's interest in the language of cinema and science fiction, her latest large-scale photograpic work Orion Tide features a desert landscape at night with what appears to be numerous spacecraft or vessels leaving planet earth. Is this space exploration on a grand scale or is this some kind of mass exodus?

Orion Tide
is premiering at the National Glass Centre at the Univerity of Sunderland (UK) from May 31 - September 9, 2012. It will then tour as part of a large survey exhibition traveling to Grundy Art Gallery (UK, October 13, 2012 - March 31, 2013) and Towner (UK, January 19 - March 31, 2013).
